Lacy InterLACEments features a sampling of stitch patterns for both knitted lace and lace knitting.

Two of the stitch patterns (ZigZag and Diamonds) are true knitted lace, i.e. where yarn overs are made every row. The other stitch pattern(Star Mesh) is lace knitting where plain rows of knitting (a.k.a. "rest rows") alternate with rows having yarn overs.
Thus this sampler scarf is a study in both types of interLACEment. Even if you have not attempted true knitted lace before because you thought it was too hard, you can do it now with this scarf that works up quickly on only 35 stitches and large needles.
The 3 interchangeable stitch patterns in this scarf are designed to be arranged in any sequence you desire before working the next. You can try all 3 patterns as given in the instructions, or just work the ones you like.
You can download for free below the cover page of this pattern to preview.
