Even adults deserve a favorite blanket in which to cuddle and shut out the cares of the world! I am a firm believer that not all lace needs to be in tiny yarn on tiny needles. This beautiful and practical lace blanket is a perfect example of "moose lace", i.e. lace knitted in a large gauge in heavier yarn. The lace makes this blanket lighter in weight for its size.

It's been years since my Cotswold Lace Blanket (a.k.a. Lacie Blankie) was selected as one of the winners in Interweave's Save the Sheep contest and went on tour around the country. For the many admirers of the blanket who have waited patiently for me to publish the pattern instructions for Lacie Blankie, your wait is over!
Construction overview: This blanket is made in one piece. First, the center rectangle is knit flat (i.e. worked back and forth in rows). Then stitches are picked up along the edges of the 4 sides of the rectangle, and the edging is knitted in-the-round.

Allow 2400 yards of DK or light worsted weight yarn for 84" x 56" finished size. 3¾ stitches/inch over Center lace pattern stitch, size US 8 / 5 mm needles suggested.
